Harriet L. Ownby , daughter of Edwars B. Ownby and Nancy Perkins married Nathaniel Green Gibson. Their country home was on a Tennessee hill with beautiful surroundings. The PONY EXPRESS made one of it's scheduled stops at the Gibson place , enroute from St. Louis , Mo. , to various locations in Tennessee. Mrs. Gibson was the unofficial , unpaid , postmistress Mail for the folks in the surrounding vacinity was left with her and she distributed it in boxes they erected for the purpose.
In 1950 , Bula Ernestine Ownby and her brother , Ralph Ownby , grandchildren of Edward B. Ownby , made a trip to Tennessee and visited the old home sites of their ancestors. The Gibson house was still occupied and no changes had been made since the Gibsons lived there. The old mail boxes were still there and in remarkably good condition.
