Obituaries –Mrs. Frank Rogers
MRS. FRANK ROGERS
Word was received here Wednesday in a letter from D.L. Rogers , at Rockwell
, Iowa , to Frank Ruse , telling of the death of Mrs. Frank Rogers as the thir
member of the family to die in the wreck at Jefferson , Iowa , Sunday which
occured when a passenger train struck the Rogers car.
Mr. Rogers , and a daughter , Fern Jo , 4 , were killed instantly , Mrs. Will
Rose , Mrs. Rogers Mother , escaped with minor injuries and a small son , 2
years old escaped death through sustaining a broken leg with a double fracture.
The letter to Mr. Ruse also told of the accident causing destruction of the
family. Mr. Rogers had stopped at the crossing to wait for a freight train to
pass, and the started across the track , to be struck by a fast moving passenger
train , which had been shielded from view by the freight train.
The triple funeral was held in Rockwell Wednesday afternoon, Mr. D.L. Rogers
, Miss Fern and Harold going from Mexico , and Mrs. Rogers going there direct
from Youngstown, Ohio, where she had been with her daughter , Mrs. Wayne Miller
who is the mother of a newly arrived baby.
The Ledger joines friends of the family in extending sincere sympathy to the
Rogers' in the bereavement caused by this untimely tragedy.
