Obituaries –Howell Fletcher
HOWELL FLETCHER
Howell H. Fletcher , 62, of 626 Holley Road, for many years general manager of mines for the Dickinson Fuel Co., died yesterday morning in a local hospital.
Service will be at 9 a.m. today at the residence. Rev. william E. Crane , pastor of Ruffner Memorial Presbyterian Church will officiate. The body will be taken to his birthplace, Pennington Gap., Va., for interment.
Mr. Fletcher , who was prominent in the coal industry for many years, came to the Kanawha Valley at the age of 17 and with the exception of a period spent at Williamsburg where he was an honor graduate at William and Mary college, had been associated with the Dickinson interests during his entire business career.
Surviving are his WIFE,MRS. EDNA MILLER,FLETCHER, three children. Robert , francis, and Mary: his father W.E. Fletcher and a sister, Mrs. Stuart Brown, both of Pennington Gap; four brothers , D.B Jonesboro, Va., Ted , Cadillac, Michigan, H.L. ,of Belle, and W.R. also of Pennington Gap.
Active pallbearers will be B.N. Shaffer, Charles C. Dickindon, Jr.,B.I. Bailey, F.A.Summerfield, Lee Bacon , Jesse Perry, Lee Griffith, roy Craddock, James Hemmings, and roy Burdette.
The family has requested that flowers be omitted and that a contribution be made to the Charleston Memorial hospital fund instead.
The body was moved yesterday from the Simpson Mortuary to the residence.
