Obituaries -Jane Porter Griffith

JANE PORTER GRIFFITH
was born in Richland County, Ohio , january 2, 1842 , and died Thursday evening , September 9 , 1909 , at the age of 67 years , 8 months , and 7 days. When but one year old , she came with her parents to the vicinity of Montpelier and has resided here ever since. On the 9th day of November , 1862 , she was united in marriage to Benjamine L. Griffith , and to this union were born six children , one of whom died in infancy. There were also seventeen grandchildren , nine of whom are still living.
Mrs. Griffith was a truly noble woman whose influence in the home as wife and mother was blessed indeed. Words cannot express the value of such a one to the home and family circle. For many years , Mrs. Griffith was a member of the Eagle Creek Methodist Church , and by her unselfish deeds and consistant Christian life , she ever exerted an influence that told for the betterment of the community. Besides the immediate members of the family , she is survived by two brothers, one of whom is living in the state of Montana.
Funeral services were held from the home Saturday afternoon , conducted by her pastor , Rev. L.H. Gressley, and the interment took place on the family lot in Riverside Cemetery.
