Letter from Pete Miller Wesley (McArthur)

As you can see, school has started again(writen on
notebook paper)! Did you ever get Doug's thank you for
the graduation check? He was most grateful ( and in
need of money)!

I apologize for my neglect to answer two letters you've
writen this summer, Merri. No excuses - "just need 12
more hours a day! 'Twas a wild, wild summer! I did
send the letter on to St. Pete to the Rodgers and trust
you've heard from them.

Many thanks for the cake recipe! Karen is saving it.
As you know, I'm no cook, and I rarely bake, but as a
consequence, Karen cooks well, and loves to do it. Bob,
too. So we WILL try the recipe one of these days when
all the ingredients are here.

Phyllis McGinley says in one of her poems - "and your
sons will love you when they're 30."

Frank I wonder about this too. Doug is sure he'd be
much happier away from home, but he can't afford it, and
we sure can't, so he's commuting to the Jr. College 12
miles from here and hopes next year to go to U. of S.
Fla. in Tampa.

Wayne is playing high school football - first game
tonight. So many friends & so grown-up!

Karen and Bob are in a brand new Jr. High and have
accepted the change pretty well. Karen is slim and
pretty and 14, and Bob is going to be a giant!

Richard is in 1st grade and thinks it's WONDERFUL! And
Sparky's going to the clinic school three day a week.
We seem so involved in so much and can't imagine how
anybody's life could be empty, but know there are many
whose are!
Love to hear from you -
